Users of the colorized coin wallet platform Coinprism got a rude surprise today. The company's website posted today stating that it was shutting down and users have until March 31st to withdraw their funds into other wallets or to export their private keys.
Coinprism is a Dublin, Ireland based company which was started back in 2014. And over the past 4 years their offerings to the blockchain have been deemed obsolete ever since the creation of the Ethereum ERC-20-based tokens, which drive many ICO tokens.
Bitcoin and colored coin funds are independent of the Coinprism platform. They instead reside on the blockchain. As a result, they will not disappear alongside the Coinprism exchange. Although any coins that you hold with the exchange won't disappear, you won't be able to access them without exporting the private keys. And you have until March 31st to get that done.
So, if you or anyone you know uses the Coinprism wallet platform, then please get to withdrawing your funds.
