to answer your question of why people don't like "beauty and the beast" idea will be hard, because love (or attraction) is somewhat in the principal of supply and demand. Judging (or with other words liking it or disliking it) is irrelevant as your opinion is not married to their relationship, as you are an an outsider who can only observe, you are entitled to your own thoughts and yes, judgement. I think at this age (out of teenage-hood) we are smart enough to not judge the book by its cover.
On the other hand I would love to see a functional dating site while i'm still alive hahha Until they change (remove) the picture profiles with actual story lines the dating site would still be like browsing through a catalog... You see picture first, then read description (if at all). And you never know who is there for what reason..
