Right now Q is in their pre-launch, and tokens/coins cannot be purchased (except by accredited investors; see their FAQ). Sign up is by invitation only - just like Gmail was years ago actually.
Once you are "in" you may send invitations to five (5) others. I was invited by a Steemian, so after inviting my two real-world crypto friends, I want to share the invitation link here with Steemians. It's free crypto, which you just sit on for now while they develop their vision and service, and hope it goes up. Way up.
No KYC/AML - but Q does ask your real name and your e-mail address. If you supply these, you'll be awarded over Q10,000 at this point (the number descends over time) and you are incentivised to earn more by sharing - by e-mail or just like this.
So no promises that it'll take off, but it just costs your e-mail address now to become an early adopter. They say it's like "...what if someone offered you Bitcoin 7 years ago...?" Well, that's obviously over-stating the case (unless I'm way wrong) but for the most part, there's nothing wrong with having 10,000 of a new crypto, now is there?
