Seems I recall the IMF including crypto in their global economic report just last month and the headlines emblazoned “stark warnings” about how it could destabilize and create new vulnerabilities in the international financial system. Now a new IMF report says crypto might replace fiat? When I dig further, it looks like this “new report” is from June, so I wonder if they’re talking about the same report but just different reporting from a different angle.
I look into it further. The two reports I find are that the stark warning one from last month is from the World Economic Outlook Report and the “new report” is actually from June called Monetary Policy in the Digital Age but looks like some people might be reporting about it.
Then I rewatch your video some and I see you’re pointing to one Staff Discussion Notes that is for sale for $10, Casting Light on Central Bank Digital Currencies... I don’t want that one (although the text is available for free at that link)
And then I find what is probably the source - Winds of Change: The Case for New Digital Currency
By Christine Lagarde, IMF Managing Director
Singapore Fintech Festival. Jackpot.
It’s a good read. And she mentions Brave in her conclusion. Well, kind of. :).
The conclusion is a good one at any rate. Perhaps this report is what sparks the adoption?
I suggest we follow a girl. A young girl. A fearless girl. [show picture of statue]. If you are lucky, you might be able to meet her in person in New York’s financial district.
She is bold. She is brave. She is confident. She faces forward, toward the future, with grit and determination—a future she herself is going to shape, with eyes wide open, eagerly, steadily.
I hear her say: Let us sail ahead. I am not afraid. (pause) I, am not afraid. Thank you.
