This article will teach you:
What Wooshii is as a company, what Wooshii offers as a company, how the Wooshii platform functions, what benefits there are to using it and how they seek to grow the platform with use of their own branded token created with OST (ost.com)

The Company

Wooshii is a London based, private held company that was founded in 2009 and currently has 14 employees. The company offers an online video production platform that will bring companies, brands and video producers together to be able to find each-other to work on a video project together and manage the video project from start to finish. Who is it for?

Wooshii is a platform built to help those involved with video be more productive. You might be a:

  • Production Manager who manages video productions for clients and uses suppliers to deliver.
  • Freelancer who also does the same BUT also is looking to find more work.
  • Marketer who is looking to produce more video in their campaigns and needs access to suppliers and tools to manage the process.
  • Head of Video who needs to find a way to scale up their capacity to produce videos.
  • An Agency that wants to offer video services but does not want to employ full-time video creators and production people.

The Wooshii platform

Wooshii is both a marketplace and a platform for video producers to collaborate on videos for external clients. The Whooshii platform itself is a web based SaaS (Software as a Service). This consists of a user friendly web interface that offers you a dashboard with several function tabs that enable the whole process of video production management from start to finish.

The Wooshii platform consists of three core areas:

1. Your Dashboard: Where you can create Clients and Projects.
2. The Marketplace: Where you can find suppliers and work.
3. The Chats: Where you can collaborate, communicate and share.

All of these areas have a ton of features designed to help you manage your productions.

The user dashboard is basically made up of 4 segments:

  • Account Tab: This is where you manage your own team account, add people to your team, edit contact details add people, brands, companies to your team network, edit billing info and integrate your Vimeo and Youtube account so users can view your work.
  • Clients Tab: This is where you can add clients you work for or work with. This also allows you to see any projects in process for that client.
  • Network Tab: This is where you can search for a particular company or freelancer that you are looking to add on the production team of your next video project. It allows you to search based on name, field of expertise, location and browse the library of video’s that have been created by them to see if you can find anything that matches the style you are looking for in your project.
  • Marketplace Tab: This is where companies, project managers etc. can place an job for their next video project and video production workers can pitch their idea’s to win that job.

Benefit

A great benefit of the platform is that it allows all parties involved to work from their own location any where in the world and come together on the Wooshii platform to start, manage and complete a project together. Despite each living and working all over the world. So a decentralised way of work and collaboration.

Big brands and enterprises are looking to produce and distribute videos more than ever before. Wooshii enables these businesses to quickly scale their video productions in terms of volume, skills and geography.

Few businesses have the ability to localise video for different languages, different dialects, while hitting the aggressive timelines required for modern brands working in the near-instant world of modern social media communications.

Growing the platform with Tokenisation

The Wooshii platform is free to use. So how do they earn their revenue? Wooshii has another agency business that is built off the back of the platform: WVA Agency (The Wooshii Video Agency). It is where they currently earn most of their revenues. They have been able to scale this business thanks to the Wooshii platform.

They let other businesses / agencies / production houses etc use the Wooshii platform and tools in order to scale their businesses. At the moment the Wooshii platform is free to use. However it will soon carry a subscription model.

They plan to create a branded token (a custom crypto currency token) through the service OST KIT that ost.com provides. Posting projects, pitching will be paid for differently using a branded token. Their branded tokens will be able to be earned through various actions or bought using a credit card. Wooshii will take a very small fee as part of these transactions.

So why tokenise?

In general, tokenising part of any business will enable a company to redefine customer relations & democratise earning. It will enable further disaggregation of commerce solutions, bring forth new business models, add transparency and ease to remittance as well as spending and revolutionise what can actually be monetised (distributed events can now be monetised through use of a crypto currency token).

Tokenising a part of the business will benefit both companies/earners as well as their customers.

It will offer a simple way for companies, apps and brands to form new types of engagement with customers based on reciprocity, exchange, and reward.

Why has Wooshii chosen OST (ost.com) to do so?

There are benefits of creating your own Branded Token with use of OST versus building your own token from scratch.

For the majority of mainstream businesses (who are not blockchain oriented at all) it doesn’t make ANY sense to go through the ordeal of developing a token from scratch (getting a blockchain development team on board), spending months of time developing, then having to ICO (tons of costs and legislation involved) and then having to put your token on an exchange to have it widely available (also labour intense, costly and involves additional legislation).

With a global platform and a vision for a decentralised network of video production partners, Wooshii was interested by the possibilities of blockchain, but wary of the costs and complexities. The Wooshii team is passionate and experts at video, not blockchain coding.

With planning already underway to develop and deploy tokens in the Wooshii platform, opportunities to use tokens are already clear. Wooshii plans to enable members of the community to use tokens to give kudos, recognition and rewards for good work. This is especially important in video production, where it is important to publicly recognise and credit the work performed on team projects.

In addition, Wooshii sees opportunities to use tokens to incentives participation within the network, which has complementary benefits to participants: the more people participate and contribute, the more value all participants get from the network.

When you go through the Wooshii platform to explore it’s different functions, you can see different avenues that offer themselves up for tokenisation. As we may know by now, many different distributed events can be tokenised in order to enable monetisation of these events. If we take a look at one of the director/editor profiles on Wooshii, we see that clients can rate someone to indicate how pleased they were with their result on the project and if they were a pleasure to work with. Imagine if this rating system can be monetised through the use of a Wooshii Token. Each Wooshii Token would have a monetary value and when Wooshii Tokens get credited to the director/editor as a form of kudos, then that forms a more powerful an meaningful endorsement that could help them get more work in the future.

So, for example, someone might contribute to writing a pitch, but not win the work. Tokens will allow members of the Wooshii community to gather recognition and rewards, which can then be powerful symbols of endorsement.

Apart from that, the Wooshii Token could act as a form of currency in it’s own ecosystem. As some of you may know, crypto currencies offer much faster transaction times then any fiat based payment solution and above all is borderless without any 3rd party standing between the issuer and the recipient. Many video production teams will include members from different countries, and the Wooshii token can be used for quick and cheap cross-country payment processing.

Concluding

In my opinion Wooshii offers up a great solution for video production partners to work on a project together in a decentralised manner. The entry barrier is very low (your account is set up in no time and the dashboard is very easy to navigate and use). The Whooshii platform offers a great way for video production partners to compete for work, find work, collaborate and earn.

Adding the element of a branded token greatly expands the possibilities of not only how parties can get paid but also how kudos, recognition and rewards are applied or even incentivisation. Can you imagine a company applying a reward/bounty system in Wooshii tokens to incentivise a team to reach certain targets in time?

A cryptocurrency token makes monetisation of all these distributed events (think micro payments for the likes of kudos, rating etc.) very feasible and sensible. This is due to the nature of crypto currencies being infinitely divisible, much faster transaction times or processing of transactions (especially with the use of OpenST utility side chains), not being tied to any borders and not requiring intervention of any 3rd parties that need to be trusted. Fiat payment systems do not meet any of these requirements. Attempting to build such a new economic model (the monetisation of distributed events) with Fiat would be very costly, slow and thus not feasible.
