Whattomine - Still Missing Algorithms

Whattomine - Missing Algorithms

I recently wrote a post about how Whattomine does not include all Algorithms including Nist5, which could be costing miners money as you won’t always be mining the most profitable coins - like Bulwark was at that time.

Since then, Whattomine has added Nist5 and a few other Algorithms to the front page, and you can see Bulwark bouncing around on the first page of the leaderboard.

But there are still other Algorithms missing, including the innovative x16r and x16s algos. In a time where coins are down, and mining profitability has slumped, every bit of profitability can make a big difference.

What Coins use Algorithms not Included on Whattomine

One coin worth looking out for is Ravencoin, which uses the x16r algo. Ravencoin is an Asic resistant open source coins, with a relatively large development team that has released multiple iterations of their whitepaper. It is still in its early stages, but lately Ravencoin has been hovering around the 0.03-0.04 US cents range.

To get an idea of what Ravencoin can generate, check out this calculator.

Another option is Pigeoncoin, which uses the x16s Algorithm. Now this looks to be more of x16s Algorithm test case, rather than a fully developed project. I would be more cautious before jumping on Pigeoncoin. It also has a large premine.

Both of these coins can be mined by Suprnova pool, which as you probably know is generally a reliable and stable pool. It also means you wont need to download the entire Blockchain before deciding to mine a bit - you can just use a Suprnova account and start mine straight to that wallet.

With these new coins, there is always a greater risk in mining, as the market rate can change very quickly. When I recommended mining Bulwark as a coin using the Nist5 Algorithm not included on Whattomine, the price shot up to over $16 USD around a week later. However, right now Bulwark is hovering around the $1.50 USD mark and it is not clear if it can recover.

However, I think Ravencoin has a promising future and has an active community. Of the coins not available on the front page of Whattomine, Ravencoin is my pick of the most profitable coins to support.
