RE: Crypto regulation

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

Bitcoin is quickly becoming an actual currency, the reserve currency of the crypto space, replacing the US dollar for merchant transactions. The speculative mania about bitcoin price will end. There's a name for this - "price discovery". At that point, bitcoin will behave like the euro, dollar, yen, etc. Fractional fluctuations will drive speculators away.

Government regulation is inevitable. Coinbase is now acting somewhat like crypto's Federal Reserve. The Feds have access to Coinbase's customer transactions because Coinbase basically operates under US banking regulations. Yes, governments will tax crypto transactions. Total transparency will need to give way to the need for buyers and sellers to know who they are buying and selling from. This is the only way for sustainable international commerce.
