Hello Steemers,
As many of you are irritated about the recent market dip and loosing shit ton of money, here is some basic analysis on how it usually goes during th month of January.
Its pretty much a regularly repeating event for a roughly 30% correction in January, the January Dip as they call it.
There are lots of theories about why its happens (as opposed to the January Effect in stocks that actually sees values rise), but the two most common theories are that Asian markets pull out to fiat because of Asian New Year spending needs and also because people want to defer tax liability all the way to 2019, so they wait and offload in January.
Either way you should stay calm and wait a bit then accumulate, usually by February we are consolidated and then its an uptrend to March and April. Generally if you look at the past years we're back to near ATH in December by April.
The ideal strategy is to sell in December and keep a fiat reserve within an exchange like Gemini on the side as a reserve (you can keep a small percent in a few cryptos in just to pick up possible gains around Q1 or in safe cryptos just to trade short term), then re-enter sometime in February assuming no other developments take place. Timing crypto is difficult but the January Dip is pretty much the most consistent trend.
SO DON'T PANIC AND HODL
