Fluxorin is a decentralized music streaming platform with a mission to provide music to listeners and a well-deserved benefit to the musicians. Fluxorin helps the art of music get back to the path that all parties, listeners, artists, and even music labels/record companies find acceptable. How will Fluxorin do it? Before explaining how, let us discuss why Fluxorin came up with that mission in mind.
Music is one of the oldest forms of art in the world. People are thankful for the discovery of music, it speaks about a lot of things and is treasured by listeners. Every note, every part of the song are being listened to with great attention because music is an expensive art in the past but the evolution of the world, an evolution that was supposed to protect the art enveloped the music industry in a mess.
The question is, what happened to the music industry? There are a lot of things that happened to the music industry and to name two, these are music piracy and the increase of independent artists. First, music piracy. Music piracy is the illegal downloading of music. When MP3 player emerged, music files were compressed creating a decreased need for bigger storage yet it maintains the kind of quality of the bigger music files. This was developed to create an easier way of distribution and enjoyment to listeners. It did achieve the desired result but it also led to an out of hand distribution that's hard to stop. Because of the minimized size of the music file, sharing it became easier and that resulted in the development of P2P or peer to peer transfer of free music online. Clearly, it wasn't a genuine offer so it resulted in what is called music piracy. This is a negative hit to the music industry, people started downloading music for free rather than buying the music creating a decrease in the potential revenue of both the artists and the record companies.
Second, independent artists. Independent artists in the sense that musicians no longer necessarily need record companies or publishers to create music, publish it, share it, promote it, and lastly, be a sensation. For some novice musicians, they have phones, laptops, and tablets that all have audio recorders and then software or applications to clean and edit those recordings. There are also already a lot of platforms that are very accessible to musicians for them to publish and share their music plus social media that can help in promoting it. For most of the experts, they are already using professional types of equipment just like record companies use. The recording process is no longer a complex process for some musicians as almost everything is available online, how to use it, where to buy it, etc. The cost for these type of independent artists may be bigger but the quality can be better than others and they can craft a music that can be difficult for others to produce. Independent artists then are now also part of the number of people that must be protected from music piracy and unacceptable revenue distribution thus the need for a solution to protect the music of the artists and their revenue is getting substantial.
A lot of organizations tried to stop or at least control music piracy but did not fully succeed instead platforms are created in an attempt to reduce this illegal downloading and also ride on the evolving music industry. Some people no longer buy CDs or other physical forms of music, all they need is a gadget where they can store and play the music. Some platforms then allowed artists to publish their music for free and earn from it from listeners who listen to it for either free or paid. Some platforms ask for artists for payments to get their music uploaded and pay them whenever listeners pay to listen or download their music. But it's not just the independent artists that use this kind of platforms, even the well-known artists are joining in this platform too. Now, it looks like it's already working out fine for artists now that platforms like this were developed so why did Fluxorin join in? What new can it offer?
Fluxorin indeed has something new to offer. Some music streaming platforms are following the 'Subscription Model'. Listeners pay for a subscription fee and some of the revenue will be sent to the musicians. The problem with the model is that only a small portion of the revenue really goes to the musicians because a lot of intermediaries have also a cut from the whole revenue. Now what Fluxorin aims to solve is how listeners can fully enjoy the paid music, an acceptable revenue for musicians, fast and protected transactions, and an opportunity for large stakeholder groups.
Fluxorin, again, is a decentralized system of music streaming which licenses content under programmed contract in a blockchain. Just like other platforms, it allows musicians to publish their songs and listeners to listen to it and even get recommendations based on their preference on music. But what sets Fluxorin different from others is, of course, blockchain technology and the use of Fluxorin's digital currency The Flux Token. Fluxorin platform is based on the Sharism Model where every time listeners listen to a music it represents an exchange between them and the musician. Instead of paying a subscription fee to access a song, listeners only pay for every song they listen to. This sounds too long of a process but because of blockchain technology, the process is pretty much simple and fast. If listeners want to listen to a particular song, the platform automatically receives a coin from the listener's account and through a smart contract execute the license terms and then tokens will be sent to the owner of the license. Listeners no longer need to access their credit card or bank to pay every time they want to listen to a song. On the other hand, musicians no longer need to go through a lot of papers or transactions just to get their revenue. Also, because of the smart contract it helps the PPP license that specifies terms in payment distributions to be executed, so if rather than a solo artist it's a band and they want to receive payment for the song individually, it can be specified and they can get a percentage of the revenue every time their song is played or played back.
For larger stakeholder groups like big labels and record companies, this is an opportunity to go where the market is going. Record companies may not get their revenue the way they used to get it but with Fluxorin they can enjoy a stream of revenue for a long time since playback always counts. Once a song is out, one can assume a lot of listeners will be playing that song and even if the hype dies down, chances are, there are still listeners who will listen to that song from time to time and there's also the possibility that the song will get popular again depending on how you promote it.
Fluxorin paved a way for a genuine and fast way of enjoying the art of music. Original/unpirated music is always an option for the people but when something free is just around the corner it's not easy to get their attention but just like branded bags or shoes, people yearn for something genuine so if genuine just cost a little and is not a hassle, music piracy may end up as the last option.
