Vlad Zamfir: Measures for return of means after hacker actions need to be discussed publicly

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

One of the leading developers Ethereum Vlad Zamfir appealed to begin more extensive discussion about what steps if it really is required, need to be undertaken at the level of the software for return of the user means after more and more frequent cracking of projects and other incidents with coins.

In particular, it last Friday during the meeting of developers which is taking place each two weeks came about it. The audience spoke concerning EIP 867 – suggestion for improvement of the Ethereum protocol in which it is told about methods of return of means.

It is known that in last Ethereum already I used such mechanism as hardfork, for modification of the protocol. According to issuing, many from being present approvingly spoke such method, however also more reserved judgements sounded.

"These sentences, especially sentences which create important precedents which influence on the relations between the platform and community need public discussions. It is not sure that it is possible at the level of suggestions for improvement of the protocol" — Vlad Zamfir told.

The community manager Hudson Dzheymson – in his judgement agreed with it, it is the best of all to hold such discussions in social networks.

At the same time the developer Piper Merriam assumed that discussions in the similar form can become easy politized and therefore he reads that they shall be carried in the form of electronic correspondence.

The expressed opinions also raise such question as possible influence of developers on an opportunity to lock sentences from carrying out for public discussion.

So, the sentence of EIP 867 was made by the developer Dan Fayfer of a startup of Musiconomi which was deprived of the considerable amount after freezing of means on Parity purses last year. Yoch of Hiray who edited a sentence initially I rejected it, having considered that it does not correspond to "Ethereum philosophy", however now adheres to more liberal approach and says that "the repository of EIP can be compared to Twitter".

"Any can say that he wants, and I integrate it [in offer]" — he told.

Anyway, at the moment any uniform line item in this question at Ethereum developers no, respectively, should not wait that in the nearest future any decisions will be made.

Earlier potential investors a blockchain platform for short-term rent of housing of BeeToken complained of the phishing letters coming allegedly on behalf of creators of the project. Presumably, malefactors "took away" at the victims already about $1 million in Ethereum.

Also it was reported that on the night of February 7 malefactors through fake stole Twitter accounts of celebrities like Elon Musk, Warren Buffett, John McAfee and Vitalik Buterin from users 6,2 ETH.
