Wednesday 14, February 2018, Luno, a cryptocurrency exchange platform with services in South Africa, Nigeria, Indonesia among other countries, announced on its blog that it has integrated segwit ( segregated witness), what exactly does this announcement mean for users of luno;
- cheaper and faster Bitcoin transactions
- As from 2, February 2018, you one can receive bitcoin in his/her new segwit bitcoin wallet address on luno.
- There is a receive fee for incoming transactions as explained here
- You will have to switch over to a new segwit address
you can still send bitcoin from a legacy wallet to a segwit wallet and vice versa. Though you are more likely to have a reduction in fees when sending to and receiving from a segwit compatible wallet.
