A subsidiary of Dearborn, Mich.- based Ford Motors, has been granted a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark office for cryptocurrency-fuelled technology to power its cars. Named Cooperatively managed Merge and Pass(CMMP) and filed in 2016, the patent was recently granted to Ford Global technologies. Basically, CMMP is a token based system that operates within its own ecosystem and also out on the open road.
It is a vehicle to vehicle communication platform on which cars can talk to each other about traffic patterns at the instance of participating drivers with the aid of GPS technology. The system would also monitor and collect data on drivers among other features.
