I may be off track in my opinions, but everytime I think to putting my hard earn money into steem, I think... I am investing in a massive circle jerk. I am investing in a blockchain that won’t even show me the view counts. I’m investing in a bunch of people who dream of not going to work, sitting at home eating virtual popcorn. I don’t mean to have a go at you, I always just imagine the career steemians sitting at home in their bathrobe stuffing their faces with virtual popcorn. I invest in people who think they are gods or special be it their vote is worth 10 cents or 10 dollars, and think they can throw their money around, and buy loyalty. I feel like I’m investing in bad people, that in the end they are all that remain. Even those that I care for a part of the circle jerking system. The content here is mostly crap, the people who are put up as people to admire are of zero interest to me. I apologise for adding to all the crap, but we all need a way to waste time. We support the whiney people, ass kissers, and assholes who lack manners. Not to be unpleasant, but that goes through my mind. So I don’t want to over invest. But you don’t feel this is what stops adoption of this platform? The pretense? Money does things to people, anda part of me wonders how all this will shake out. Because if people here do not really believe it and just want the free money, I’m curious as to how such a place can survive.
I do look at these types of posts with a lot of doubt, but I get it we can’t focus on the negative.
Apologies for the ramble, I wrote this walking on my trail. To waste time. ;)
At some point the scammers dump all they can and move on to scam something else.
Thats when the real people here rebuild from the rubble and make them suck on their abuse of us.
Well, I’m unsure who these scammers you refer to are. I have looked at your blog a few times and I understand you are unhappy with the leadership, but otherwise it’s all cryptic to me and seem to be before my time. I’m inclined to think one person’s scammer is another person’s good samaritan/community leader on this platform. It just depends on if you agree and/or benefiting from them.
I guess I think we all play a part of the cancer here. When I refer to ‘bad people’, that might be your ‘good people’. Maybe I’m wrong to think that decent people are honest enough with themselves to see this place for what it is, and it’s for this reason they’re not buying in, or believing the sales pitch from those who are already locked in. I’m cynical though, I hope to be proven wrong.
Lets be clear, i was here when they changed the rules to line their own pockets.
Many people left.
Stinc is relying on the memory hole to continue lining their own pockets.
The newbs think this is normal, when steem was changed to benefit the few.
I dont really have anything better to do than shout about the emporer having taken iff his clothes.
If you see their fine raiments, then i guess you should go with that.
If you insist on limiting knowledge to only data from your own time, an oppressor only has to restrict current means of gaining knowledge, skool, internet, flashylight box, etc, to make you think you are free when truly you are perfectly enslaved, by falsely thinking yourself free,...

I’ve only ever judged people by how they treat me and what I personally observe. I admire very few on this platform, and I’ve lost interest, or have never been interested to begin with, in a lot of the leaders/emperors/self-appointed celebrities or pretend gods. Most of the time, I observe the hordes flood to these souls and ponder, are you really that interested or is it the potential gain you think you can get? Then I wonder about these people, would they like someone they meet in real life who offers them that 10 cents or that 10 dollars to like them? If not, then why do they behave like so on this platform? Why do they pander to the egos who shoot out posts that write, “Entertain me, plebs!”, knowing the desperate will come running.
Is it possible that in real life super ego is a depressed and insecure slob sitting at home, whereas poor little plankton is a hardworking and rational human. Often it feels that there is a lack of decency, self-respect, and courtesy on this platform. That the decent folks who don’t buy into this BS have run away. That only those who have the most to lose, gain, or have nothing else better going for them are the ones that remain. Then there are time-wasters who aren’t so serious like me. ;) So the voices that overwhelm the platform are obnoxious. Because they be the ones who are screaming the loudest, “I’m glad all of those people are gone! I’m still here, I’m still posting, support me the most!” That attitude alone is an advertisement to the cancer, and no, they do not produce content I’m interested in.
I’m not reliant on this place for my happy, but I appreciate when someone makes me smile for real here. So I look for the little bits of entertainment and ignore a lot of this BS. I’m not sure what fine raiments you think I’m seeing? It may be wrong, but I’m always judging people action by action. My opinion of someone can change very quickly here. But it’s all we can do with online people, because I have been burnt in the past. I see both the good and the bad in people here.
Anyway, I tire of people throwing the word enslavement around. I’m not enslaved by this place or I’d be more careful about expressing my honest opinion. I only see a lot of people smeared in their own bullshit. That would include people I have considered ‘friends’ in the past. Because as a friend, I bear the stink, hold my nose and try to politely focus on the positive patches, until I can no longer stand it.
Even though I’m someone who doesn’t want to be part of a community, I think I’m someone who has put a lot of her time in engaging, encouraging and helping individuals who genuinely interest me. But time and time again I personally feel mislead, that in the end, the strongest messages I hear is “what’s in it for me?” , “whose ass do I need to kiss to get me to the next tier?” and my favorite, “I thought you were a fan, why are you not paying attention to me?”
It’s this that I struggle to invest in.
I don’t blame Ned. I don’t know the guy, have never read a post of his or watch a vid properly. I don’t care about him. I imagine him as just another person equally overwhelmed by all the BS, while coming to grips with his own BS. Only he has all the angry Steem-wealthy-or-influential bullshitters who also contribute to the disease waving their pitchfork at him. I doubt I’d be any happier under the ‘rule’ of these other ‘community leaders’. Humans like to point fingers, but in the end, this platform is governed by self interest because money is involved. I don’t feel any of us is above that. We’re all guilty.
Anyway, I thank you for your time to let me ramble. I don’t often contribute to these kinds of posts, but this appeared in my feed via someome’s resteem. As proven by this wall of text, I’ve said more than I should. Lol
As for that Steem-Ua link, I’ve never been a fan of it. I keep seeing their comments to other posters often telling them that they have decreased or become stagnant in their ranking. Why on earth anyone would pay for that kind of service boggles my mind. I get depressed by the posters reading them! But I do look at my rank time to time out of curiosity to see what an unpopular soul like me would rank. I’d never delegate to it, because if that increases my rank, then I’m just buying into the fakery. For most part, I’d agree with it. It looks like the rank of someone who isn’t so deeply invested in this platform, but makes as half-assed effort to engage. I don’t know if it funnels newbs to the big accounts. It’s hard for me to assess these things, I’m kinda anti-popularity and skip a lot of the ‘popular’ people unless something really catches my eyes.
You have a nice day @freebornangel . Just for the record, I do visit your blog a lot, but I’m often scratching my head. I’m still interested though. ;)
Looks like.
It is hard making money on a social media site when you are an @antisocialist, huh?
You would fit right in with @antisocialists, but i havent had the time lately to farm that account.
Well, speak up, i could be wrong.
:shakesheadimplyingitisunlikely:
It wouldnt be the first time, but i do try to keep my average up,...
The money isn’t what makes me happy. Most of my time and care is actually put into comments and that isn’t paid at all. I’m just here to engage and play until I decide there’s no more fun to be had. There’s always a full-time career that keeps me busy and funds my lifestyle. :)
I am anti-social. I think it’s endearing, but I get it others don’t agree. Lol
You just be you. I’m not a fan of memes for one. They give me an instantaneous head ache, I think I caught a few from you. 😛
I’ll drop by at some point and see if there is anything I can decipher and comment on...

Your analysis seems spot on to me Linny.
hello friend I ask you do you give your support in steemit with your comment and your positive vote to a publication that is of a low quality content? for example, I give my support to creative, original publications with good quality teaching content, not all of us in steemit are in coats eating popcorn sitting in front of the monitor waiting for us to pay money, here are many people who work hard and research, create, make music, quality art and original, I do not think they are useless people, for me they are people very committed to the welfare of this community, hope that everything will recover and our community will continue to greet friends and wish uchos success.
Why are you flagged by @cheetah? Weird.
To answer your question, I upvote things that make me smile. It could be silly, whimsical, fun or simply because they are a friend, and their content in that context makes sense to me. Rarely, do I upvote because it’s stirling content. I actually read a lot of stuff off this block chain for education and research. This is a social media site and a playground to me. I give my attention and place value to it on that understanding. But I think I can safely claim I’m quite engaged compared to many.
You need to take my comment with a grain of salt and not take it literally. I’m discussing a general mind set based on my personal observation. You’re entitled to your opinion. :)
Sometimes I wonder if I am judging too harshly about the engagement/talented here. I believe there are competitions to incentivize people to comment on posts that curied? That kinda tells the story. We need to pay people to appear engaged in what a few have decided is exceptional content.
Without view counts, I can only rely on places like YouTube to get a true picture of popular steemians others put on a pedestal. I recently showed my husband an artist who is considered a ‘star’ on this platform. He gave me a funny look and said, “There are many children who play with toys on YouTube who are considerably more popular...That’s the best Steemit has?”
So I finally made myself click on the vid to see for myself. It wasn’t my thing.
I find the lack of sincerity life-draining.
Anyway, you say the right things, you will do well here! Good luck!
