My search for a working Crypto Card

in #cryptocurrency6 years ago (edited)

For the last year I've been searching for a real Crypto Card. To me a "real crypto card" means a card (VISA, MasterCard etc.) where you can spend cryptocurrencies (BTC, ETH, LTC etc.) in shops, restaurants, online, actually anywhere where you can use a debit or credit card. It also has to be without need to convert the crypto to fiat currencies first and to very low cost (preferably zero cost).

Last year I ordered two cards - Monaco Card(now rebranded to Crypto.com) and TenX. The Monaco I've still not received, but they are testing out the cards now so it should not take too many more months I hope.

I received my TenX last November and it was working like a charm until the 3rd party card provider WaveCrest took too many shortcuts and lost their license with VISA in January.

After that I didn't have a card to spend my crypto with. And I've got to be able to use my crypto to live on crypto!

In May I found out that Wirexhad started to issue cards again after also hade been using WaveCrest as card provider. Wirex card is not a "real" crypto card in my opinion, but it's a card that I actually can use today to use my crypto. They have got a VISA card. You transfer your crypto (BTC, LTC or XRP) to the app and there exchange for USD, EUR or GBP.

Unfortunately there is a 3% fee when using the Wirex card, but there are now monthly or annual fees or shipping fee.

Since there are not any real crypto card on the market right now I don't mind the 3% fee. When transferring crypto to my wallet it's credited almost immediately since they seem to credit the account as soon as they receive the incoming transaction without confirmations. That way I deposit BTC or LTC when needed without worrying about exchange rate fluctuations.

I've used my card both in shops and online, here and abroad and it works perfect!

All the cards I've mentioned have a crypto cashback system. Depending on from which company and what card you order you get different cashback in cryptocurrency. With my Wirex I get 0.5% cashback in BTC on every purchase do.

There are more cards coming from different companies, but none of the companies have announced a date. I believe that is due to VISA and MasterCard. It's difficult to issue cards if no one is allowed to do that, and it seems like VISA and MasterCard are not to keen on letting anyone do at the moment.

You can order a free Wirex card here: order Wirex card

If you know about a "real" crypto card that's working today, please drop a comment. Or upcoming cards.

Enjoy spending your crypto! :)
