Thanks for sharing this @fulltimegeek, this really is an insightful video. The Bitconnect scheme was something that I stayed away from from the very start. As someone who works full time in the blockchain industry (primarily ICO advising), I come across ponzi schemes and scams quite often when researching. The general rule of thumb is that if something sounds too good to be true, it generally is. This can lead to you missing some opportunities too, but it is the safest way to protect yourself from scams.
Regarding what people of power are saying about cryptocurrencies, I think that the video was actually quite harsh about it. There are a lot of good things being said about cryptocurrencies, and while yes, a lot of governments seem to be against them, many seem to be optimistic and are happy for them to exist as long as they are regulated. While I am a fan of certain aspects of anarchy, the crazy ICO market has been enough to prove to me that regulations are needed, and I imagine that they will filter out a lot of the bad coins.
By the way, thank you for the 1500SP delegation! I know that you have taken it back, and I am not sure why, but it really helped at the time. I used it primarily to generate some SBD that I turned to Ether: if you are wondering why, it is because I am saving up to run multiple Steemit projects, and will be providing an account to all delegators who want them. I will be creating free Steemit guides and more, and also need to fund myself (as opposed to charging for the guides). I'm also planning to set up a physical Bloggers Hub to teach people about Steemit, and will also need a lot of support for that.
Anyway, I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank you again, and thank you for all that you do for the platform!
