Just this week, Binance started it's operations in Uganda, giving the Ugandan currency the privilege of getting paired against BTC and Ethereum on the platform. Ugandans will now find it easy to acquire BTC or Ethereum as they will directly deposit fiat on the platform. Unfortunately few people got to know about this new development, and no media house even reported it. This shows how the mindset of Ugandans towards blockchain technology is still lacking and it'll take a lot of effort to change it.
Government showed it's support for Blockchain technology, allowing the country to host the Africa Blockchain Conference early this year which was opened by the president himself. And it took an extra step by opening the doors for the CEO of Binance to tap into the Ugandan market. This however has not been enough to sensitize the public about Blockchain technology. More work needs to be done by calling for blockchain seminars, conferences, meet-ups, TV programs among others to give people knowledge about Blockchain technology. This mass sensitization will increase awareness and attract local investors to apply Blockchain Technology in their firms. On top of that it'll attract young innovators to develop programs under Blockchain Technology.
