Interesting news. Without a doubt, blockchain adoption by govts will take some time, and will have to overcome numerous obstacles. Therefore, it's great to see that the Maltese have taken the initiative and started working towards adoption.
A few years ago, some Canadian senators invited Andreas Antonopoulos to give them a 2-day presentation on crypto-currencies and blockchain (vid on YouTube). I'm not sure if the Canadians have continued to discuss the technology and its adoption. At least they were interested and open.
Let's hope that other govts follow Malta's lead.
Agreed, let's hope Governments will work towards accepting the open concept of Blockchain, without trying to excessively limit the concept of a distributed ledger. I think this is a pivotal argument which needs to be looked into in the future. Over-regulation would be counter-productive.
