Cryptocurrency, what is that? I asked myself the same question the first time. I've heard about Bitcoin before.
Somewhere back in my head I remember that I've read about that, somewhere.
I think if someone would talk to me about cryptocurrency back then I would stand like a big questionmark, with my tongue hanging out. It was a totally new chapter for me, in life.
When I met my boyfriend, he was a member of a company called Compumatrix. He said that they have their own cryptocurrency called Compuceeds. And he also told me that you can run a program on your computer called WCG, which stands for World Community Grid. It belongs to IBM and that program connect your home computers to a supercomputer to help with scientific researches. And that the only think that cost is electricity and your internet-conection. But the good part with all this, is that you can make profit from it. You can earn up to 5.000 euros a month by running that program. And those money was paid from Compumatrix themself, as a thank you for running this program.
This sounded really good, but I was still standing there like a questionmark.
He also told me that Compumatrix have their own portal, with their own virtual prepaid cards, which you could earn x amount of profit from. Ok, help me to sign up, I said.
I needed to fill in some tax form and send in a copy of my ID-card to them.
Wow, this company seem really serious and legit, I was thinking.
I started to read on their own forum, they had frequent updates from their staff-members about upcoming changes, goals etc.
In January 2016 they opened up their new portal, with a new feature which would let us buy and sell BTC and also send those BTC to an external wallet.
But the portal needed some updates and fixes until everything was totally operational.
In the spring 2016 our founder Henry James Banayat, started to introduce us members to OpenLedger or Bitshares 2.0 (the DEX), a decentrilized exchanger where you can trade assets.
Oh, I remember when I first entered that page... First we needed to have a username with CNI in the beginning, then we could log in. There were numbers and charts everywhere! I felt lost like in a jungle...Oh my, my eyes were bleeding! So much information at the same time...I didn't know where to start or end. It felt like a mission impossible...
Since I felt like how did, I let that DEX page be for a bit. I really didn't want to mess around with something that I wasn't sure of how to handle.
It wasn't until late 2016, when a friend of us, proudly said that he is trading on Bitshares 2.0 and actually is earning some profit! We got excited, and while waiting for Compumatrix to be done, we were curious to learn how to trade.
We started to to read facts and following charts on Cryptofresh. We started slow, it's better to be a bit careful then just jump in without and extra thought. When we sold our first asset it felt like winning on a lottery ticket. It was fun and addicting and not that hard as we thought. Those numbers and charts on Bitshares 2.0 wasn't frightening anymore and everything started to make sense. It was almost like learning a new language! :)
I went from being a questionmark to a business-woman.
In the same time, Compumatrix development happened faster and faster. Some issues on the portal, had been fixed, API added and so on.
They had their own asset; Compuceeds, and later on they brought new assets to the DEX, like Cryptoceeds, Oceania, Eload etc.
In September 2016 it was announced that we would go into a BETA- phase. Members were allowed to send a small amount of BTC to an external wallet, to test this new system out. But some problems occured and needed to be fixed. And now, in the moment of writing, we are waiting for our portal to be totally decentrilized and connected to Bitshares 2.0. This is really exciting!
If you just have the will and the interest to learn something new, you can accomplish a lot of things in this life.
Even if it feels like you are in deep water.
