#1 THE PETRO, ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY FOR VENEZUELA? / EL PETRO, ¿OPORTUNIDAD ECONÓMICA PARA VENEZUELA?
At the end of 2017, the Venezuelan Government announced the creation of the PETRO Cryptocurrency, as an alternative mechanism to boost the economic development of this Nation. Venezuela is a country located on the American continent, bordering Brazil, Colombia and the Caribbean Sea. Known for its great natural riches; being the petroleum, its main source of commercialization and that generates the greater amount of currencies, already crosses several years a strong economic crisis placing its rate of inflation, in historical levels never seen before. Despite all the potential that exists in this country, because apart from oil, it also has large deposits of gold, diamonds, precious stones, coltan, uranium, thorium among others, progressively from 2013 to date, the economy of this country has suffered from external and internal consequences, a deterioration in its economic and financial system that have reduced its gross income, leading to a strong economic resection. The consequences of this crisis have affected all the sectors fundamental to the development of the Caribbean nation, being forced to seek alternatives that allow them to overcome the crisis and stabilize.
That is why President Nicolas Maduro, announced on December 3, 2017, the creation of the PETRO Cryptocurrency, as a new financial tool that allows them to rescue the national economy and boost Venezuela. PETRO unlike other cryptocurrency, will be backed by the natural resources that are found in this country and from the beginning its price would be quoted at the equivalent of one barrel of oil from this market, being approximately 50 USD. These announcements put this country on the forefront of the issue, but at the same time several sectors adverse to the National Government catalog these new policies as an announced failure. On the other hand experts in this field, are skeptical about it, since in its essence and general terms, they would not be talking about a Cryptocurrency, but rather a digital asset, since the overall action of the process in its development it would be centralized by the Venezuelan Government and would not use the blockchain; also that their transactions would be carried out through the house of virtual changes. These controversies generated by the issue of PETRO have many in the expectation, waiting to be pronounced on the matter of obtaining said Cryptocurrency.
A final del año 2017 el Gobierno Venezolano anuncia la creación de la Criptomenda PETRO, como mecanismo alternativo para impulsar el desarrollo económico de está Nación. Venezuela es un país ubicado en el continente Americano, fronterizo con Brasil, Colombia y el Mar Caribe. Conocida por sus grandes riquezas naturales; siendo el petróleo, su principal fuente de comercialización y que genera la mayor cantidad de divisas, atraviesa desde ya varios años una fuerte crisis económica colocando su tasa de inflación, en niveles históricos nunca antes visto. Pese a todo el potencial que en este país existe, porque a parte del petróleo, también cuenta con grandes yacimientos de oro, diamantes, piedras preciosas, coltán, uranio, torio entre otros, progresivamente desde el año 2013 hasta la fecha, la economía de este país ha sufrido por consecuencias externas e internas, un deterioro en su sistema económico y financiero que han mermado sus ingresos brutos, llevándolos a una fuerte resección económica. Las consecuencias de esta crisis, han afectado todo los sectores fundamentales para el desarrollo de la nación caribeña, viéndose obligados a buscar alternativas que les permitan superar la crisis y estabilizarse.
Es por ello que el presidente Nicolas Maduro, anunció el pasado 03 de diciembre de 2017, la creación de la Criptomoneda PETRO, como una nueva herramienta financiera que les permita, rescatar la economía nacional e impulsar a Venezuela. El PETRO a diferencia de otras criptomonedas, estará respaldada en los recursos naturales que en este país se encuentran y desde su comienzo su precio se cotizaría al equivalente de un barril de petróleo de este mercado, siendo un aproximado de 50 USD. Estos anuncios ponen a la vanguardia a este país en el tema, pero al mismo tiempo varios sectores adversos al Gobierno Nacional catalogan estas nuevas políticas, como un fracaso anunciado. Por otro lado expertos en está materia, son escépticos al respecto, ya que en su esencia y términos generales, no se estarían hablando de una Ciptomoneda, si no más bien de un activo digital, ya que la acción en general del proceso en su desarrollo estaría centralizada por el Gobierno venezolano y no usaría el blockchain; también que sus transacciones se realizarían por medio de casa de cambios virtuales. Estas controversias que genera el tema del Petro tienen a muchos a la expectativa, esperando a que el gobierno se pronuncien al respecto de la obtención de dicha Criptomoneda.
