Watch out! Apparently Etherdelta got hacked and the hacker has taken over the web interface to Etherdelta. If you try to use Etherdelta right now you are at risk of losing your funds!!!
This news just was confirmed on Twitter by the Etherdelta team:
What appears to have happened is that the website of Etherdelta was taken over, and the hacker replaced it with a copycat site that looks the same. However, when you try to move your funds or enter your key, it will instead steal your funds away.
Any funds that you have on Etherdelta should still be safe, as they are stored in the smart contract that Etherdelta uses. Only the web interface is compromised. As long as you don't enter your private keys on Etherdelta currently, you should be safe. So don't go running to get your funds out just yet! If all else fails, you will be able to do this manually without Etherdelta, although this requires some fiddling about (if this becomes necessary I will figure it out and try to make a tutorial).
So for now, just don't go anywhere near Etherdelta until they dealt with the hacker and the problems. It shows that even though Etherdelta is more decentralized, it still is centralized through the website.
I will keep this post updated if I find out more.

i thought etha delta was supposed to be proff
It is only semi-decentralized, unfortunately. 100% decentralized DEXes are still on their way. Bitshares may be the only one right now. But even Bitshares has multiple ways to access it (through the app, or a web UI) and those are points that could potentially be hacked.
However, they can only hack the 'portals' to the smart contract. The smart contracts themselves keep the funds safe.. you just have to do your best to avoid compromised UI's or access points.
Thanks for the warning.
You're welcome!
I think a future profession is going to be blockchain forensics. Cliff High has talked about this; investigators that have a background in programming, finance, and crime. I would like to know the details of how EtherDelta got hacked. I use EtherDelta and fortunately all my coins are in ledger ... but normally I keep some on there. Thanks for the info.
Absolutely! There's already a wellknown company called Chainalyses which does exactly that: blockchain investigations for governments and corporations to track down hackers, or tax fraud.
I have 0.01 ETH on there but luckily no more. I am paranoid so I always withdraw from there. Only had the 0.01 ETH on it because of the high gas fees lately. But I guess being paranoid is a good thing when it comes to crypto
Yes, I heard that. Seems like a good time to get the remaining coins off of Bittrex as well. I am going to investigate that company, didn't realize that there was such an entity. https://www.chainalysis.com/
Yes I think getting your funds off of exchanges is a good idea right about now. A lot of weird things are going on in the crypto world, some of the exchanges are acting shady and we truly are overdue for some kind of massive hack or scandal..
It's just a shame most blockchains are so costly to transact on, making withdrawals from the exchanges to your wallet a rather costly move. Even moreso if it's Bitcoin that you're moving.. I hear $30 fees is considered low now.
Thanks for the heads up. Setting up with Etherdelta is on my short term TODO list so I might just bump it down a bit for a while :)
Yes, definitely bump it down for a while!
Also, make sure that when you use Etherdelta in the future, do it by using a Ledger Nano S. It truly makes the whole experience a WHOLE lot easier, and infinitely more secure. I wouldn't touch Etherdelta normally without one. Now I'm not even touching it with one ;)
