From may 2nd to May 4th 2018, five major projects from the NEO ecosphere are set to host the first Smart Economy Expo at the European Parliament. The projects presenting themselves to the European regulators are: NEO, Ontology, City of Zion, NEX and Moonlight.
SMART ECONOMY EXPO
The Smart Economy Expo is an independent virtual organization backed by City of Zion and NEX that will perform educational events and expositions focused on legislature and regulation across the globe. The first edition of this new initiative is scheduled to occur on May 2nd to May 4th 2018 in Brussels at the European Parliament. This event is not open to the general public and is invite-only, targetting lawmakers and regulators in order to educate them so they can establish innovation-friendly laws and regulations. After this initial event at the European Parliament, more similar events are planned at regulatory bodies around the globe.
The list of projects presenting at the Smart Economy Expo are:
- NEO (smart contracts platform)
- Ontology (digital identity & trust framework)
- City of Zion (official NEO community initiative)
- NEX (NEON-Exchange - NEO+ERC20 decentralized exchange)
- Moonlight (decentralized workforce platform)
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
The initiative follows from CoZ/NEX after the succesful registering of the NEX token as a European security. All projects involved in the NEO-ecosphere aim for regulatory compliance and both the registering as a security as well as the Smart Economy Expo fit in perfectly with this philosophy.Although many expected that NEO's regulatory-compliance outlook was due to China's strict government, it is starting to show it's merits around the globe right now. After all, it is not just China that seeks measures against money laundering, consumer protection and such.
By working with the regulatory framework that exists in governments worldwide, the chances of being adopted instead of outlawed rise significantly. And by approaching governments pro-actively, like with the Smart Economy Expo, it is setting the door wide-open for co-operation.
Or, in the words of the CEO/founder of NEO, Da Hongfei himself:
The decision to focus on the European Parliament, and registering as a European security, is a smart move as well. Europe is turning into a popular base for many crypto-projects, and it is a politically stable place with respectable ties worldwide.
NEO is quickly shedding it's 'Chinese Ethereum' image through the efforts of City of Zion, which is proving that NEO is aimed globally and adoption outside of China is very real. I personally believe that 2018 will be a great year for NEO and it's projects.
Good stuff!
Neo 'family' has some awesome things in the works!
Excited for NEX but wonder if SwitchNeo might have a first mover advantage here.
