Australia Tougher Regulations

bill.jpegBill Shorten who is a the opposition leader in Australia suggests that tougher regulations are required on bitcoin to avoid its use by terrorists and cyber criminals.

"We must target this threat head on. As terrorists adapt their methods and seek to hide online, we must ensure our agencies have the tools, resources and technology so terrorism has no place to hide.

The comments are a clear indication that Australia's government is trying to tighten up control over cryptocurrency. The Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and George Brandis the attorney general also raised concerns earlier this month about the pervasive use of encryption currency.

The governments move seems to be drawing attention to the negative use of bitcoin. I wonder if their true motive is to remove the option for law abiding citizens using cryptocurrency to carry out business thus avoiding fees and excessive taxes.

The use of the word terrorist seems to be the treading word of our days lately.
