Tracking Your Cryptocurrency Portfolio

As a newbie to the crypto game, one of the first things I wanted to do was to track my portfolio. And I wanted to do it from the start so that I had a record of what I was spending and what I was earning.

There are a few options out there that don't cost anything, such as some Excel spreadsheets that people make available, but 1) I'm on Linux and don't have Excel, and 2) if I did have Excel, I'm paranoid enough about viruses and malware that I would never download a spreadsheet off the Internet.

So I started looking around and found this great site: CoinTracking.info. (ps; that link is a referral link which will give you a 10% discount if you decide to upgrade to a paid plan)

While it's possible to upgrade to a pro account, the main site is completely free.

Features include daily balances, trade statistics, tax declaration exporting, research and user stats, coin trends, evaluations and analysis of coins, forecasts, and will let you view your data in many different currencies.

I've only scratched the surface of this amazing program, but if you're not using something already, then I heartily suggest you take a look and see if this makes your life easier. It will track multiple wallets of multiple crypto and fiat currencies, so you get to see it all together in one interface. And the interface is incredibly well laid out and intuitive, even for a noob like me. But it has the detail and depth for the most advanced crypto trader or investor.

Even better, I was expecting to have to enter in each of my transactions by hand, but it turns out it will import wallet CSV files, and even better, it will link to the APIs of a whole swag of exchanges. I didn't even know so many exchanges existed as I read through the list!

There are also options to share your portfolio, and I'm guessing they have some fine grained controls so you can manage the security, but I've not delved into that at the moment.

The free version, admittedly is limited to 200 trades, so I might find that after a while I might have to stop importing all of my individual trades and just track the total amounts, but we'll see. Perhaps by then I'll be able to afford the Pro or Unlimited versions, which are 0.012 BTC and 0.019 BTC per annum respectively. They do have some good deals for lifetime accounts.

A great reason to use my referral link and get yourself a bit of a discount. :)

BTW - while the main interface is a web application, they also have Android and iOS apps.

You can also follow CoinTracking on Twitter.

Well worth a look in my opinion.

Are you using any portfolio trackers currently? I'd love to hear about them and how you're finding them.

Great post! Very well written. I am also a newbie to all this and have much to learn. Thank you for this brother.

No worries man. Hope it helps you out.

Thanks for sharing this with us. I currently don't have anything and was wondering about this my self. A friend of mine built his own spread sheet years ago that he still uses but I think I will look into this one. Thanks

No problem. I hope you find it useful.
Cheers.

Try using the Blockfolio app on IOS or android. You will be see all of your holdings and the current market price. Instead of checking different wallets and looking in different places you can see everything on your phone in real time.

Thanks for that. I looked at that one as well, but it was only for mobiles, and I wanted one that could also be run on a PC, and a web based application is perfect because I can use it on my Linux and Mac laptops too. CoinTracking.info ticks all the boxes for me.
How do you find Blockfolio?
