DApps don't necessarily need to have tokens moving around. If it's a private blockchain, the creators can choose not to pay out mining awards and therefore have no currency at all. In real life, somebody is going to have to pay for all that computing power to host the blockchain and solve the hash riddles, but crypto's are not part of the minimum DApp solution.
