Overview:
Over the past year, Huobi Pro has made giant leaps of progress to become one of the top 3 cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. In the process, Huobi Eco has grown and flourished as a whole, too. One of the key milestones for Huobi Global this year was Huobi Chain.
On June 6th, Huobi Group announced the launch of their own new public chain - Huobi Chain. With this new initiative, the company aims to take strides towards building a next-generation self-regulating and decentralized financial platform.
What will Huobi Chain aim to achieve?
Huobi Chain will provide individuals and organizations with a reliable financial protocol for value exchange, fundraising, securitization and more. The public chain will allow various types of applications and smart contracts to operate on the chain seamlessly. The freedom to generate, transfer, notarize and confirmation on the public chain will be unprecedented.
Huobi Group has also allocated a massive USD$200 million to accelerate the Huobi Ecosystem. They intend to focus on upstream and downstream Blockchain projects, like exchanges, project incubators, media applications, digital wallets, data services, technological research, education, financial products, digital assets etc.
Huobi plans to kickstart Huobi Chain in a big way. They will do so by seeking out the Huobi Chain Global Leader who will lead the development of the Huobi Chain project. Divided into multiple milestones, teams from around the world can join and compete for the prize pool.
The selection of the Huobi Chain leader is based on a voting process which every Huobi user and HT tokens holder is a crucial part of.
But why is this necessary?
This is because the Huobi technical team alone cannot solve the problem of public development. It is no surprise that each day, blockchain technology is shaping the world we live in and taking human collaboration to new levels of success and integration.
The key to success lies in the collaboration of all of the 20-million odd Huobi supporters all over the world who share common wisdom and inspiration. This collaboration and participation are what will lead to the success of Huobi Chain and help achieve its magnificent vision.
So how can you participate? How can you make your voice heard?
Through voting for your preferred candidate as the Huobi Chain Leader, you can participate and make your voice heard. Every vote counts and will help build a more secure, decentralised and reliable future for Huobi Chain. As a Huobi user and HT token holder, consider this your prime responsibility. Here is where you get to show your power and make your voice heard. Beyond being a mere task, view it as more of a duty - a responsibility to your fellow Huobi participants and the Huobi public chain as a whole.

But above all else, it is critical to ensure that the right candidate leads the project.
So how do you go about choosing a candidate?
It is important that the Huobi Chain Global Leader should align his vision with the vision of Huobi Chain and perform their duties accordingly. Some of the duties that the Huobi Global Chain Leader is expected to perform are as follows:
Report to the Council on a regular and/or irregular basis;
Organize the Huobi Chain team to develop and maintain Huobi Chain, and manage Huobi Chain team daily;
Design and/or lead the design of the public chain technical route;
Advise on the distribution plan for the 30 million HT fund, and draft a plan to the Council for approval;
Formulate the basic management structure of the leading team and submit the plan to the Council for approval;
Attend Council meetings;
Perform other functions and powers conferred by the Council.
Given these responsibilities and duties, it is important to select a competent candidate who can lead by example and from the front. There are several candidates you can choose from. However, I recommend that you do your own careful research and vote for a candidate you deem best-suited for the job. You can find the entire list of candidates here.
Voting Process: The voting will be conducted in three rounds. The following procedures should be applied:
The first round of balloting begins at 12 pm on July 20 and ends at 12 pm on August 20. Candidates who do not place in the top 30 will be automatically removed from the election. The top 30 will go to the next round, and the votes received in the first round will not be cleared.
The second round of voting begins at 12 pm on August 21 and ends at 12 pm on September 10. Candidates who are not ranked in the top 5 will be automatically removed from the election. The top 5 will enter the final round, and the votes accumulated will not be cleared.
The third round of voting begins at 0 am on September 11 and ends at 10 pm on September 28. The 5 final candidates will attend the Huobi Chain Superhero Championship Program Gala held by Huobi Group on the evening of September 28.
On the evening of the Huobi Chain Superhero Championship Program Gala, the 5 candidates will have a face-to-face debate that will be broadcasted live. The candidate who has the highest final score on that day will be the winner. The calculation method is: Candidate Final Score = Number of Votes Received * Advisory Opinion Multiplier (the coefficient base is 1 and increases by 1 for each advisor’s support). If the final score of multiple candidates is the same, the candidate with the most votes wins.
From the research and study I’ve done, I’ve narrowed my personal choices down to a couple of candidates:
My top pick:
Mr. Steve Melnikoff, CTO of Penta
Steve Melnikoff was Honorary Visiting Fellow in Physics at the University of Melbourne, previously Professor and Research Fellow at the University of California, and Post-Doctoral Research Physicist at Law. Steve Melnikoff’s current role is with the Penta Global Foundation, a next generation blockchain technology platform for both public and private blockchain projects. Penta is designed to be a premier platform for transferring value, and operating high-performance decentralized applications. Penta’s vision is in line with Huobi Chain’s vision and I believe that Steve Melnikoff is the perfect candidate to be the Huobi Chain Global Leader given his experience and background. His experience in building next-gen public chains will great help Huobi Global achieve a high performance and be a top blockchain in the future.
My darkhorse contestant:
Mr. Rong Chen, Founder of Elastos
Mr. Chen graduated from Tsinghua University in 1982 and joined the Chinese Academy of Sciences overseas student program. He studied under Ni Guangnan and engaged in Hanka development. Rong Chen is the Founder of Elastos, whose aim is to transform the internet into an interconnected web of DApps. They refer to their vision as ‘a new kind of internet powered by blockchain’. They call this the SmartWeb. As a founder of such an ambitious project like Elastos I strongly believe that Mr. Chen is the ideal candidate for the job and can bring added security and transparency to Huobi Chain. Much of his vision for Elastos could used to fuel Huobi Chain’s vision, too.

Important Reminder!
It is important to note that the leader should eagerly promote Huobi Chain and ensure the continuity of its operation. If the leader voluntarily resigns from his/her role or is impeached by the Council, he/she must return the HT reward. If the leader maliciously causes delays of the development or other losses, he/she must return the HT bonus and is also liable for the corresponding losses. Currently, these are the top 4:
