Lots of double digit drops in the cryptocurrencies today. I hope people aren't losing too much. I'm mostly invested in Steem (in my time that is). I expect Steem to recover. What other coin has a community like this one?
Ethereum Classic is the only one in the top 30 that is up. What's their secret?
I know the market has ups and downs as investors react to random news. I suspect some lump all the crypto coins into one nebulous fuzzy cloud. Do they really understand the differences?

I'm Steve, the geeky guitarist. 
It has been a long time coming; I closed out some of my positions "de-risked" a few days ago; and at the same time put in some buy orders at support points on a few coins to try and scoop them up as people panic and sell out of them.
As for ETC - this was the big news recently "Cryptocurrency exchange BTCC DAX launches with Ethereum Classic" :
Remember all of those posts saying "vote for Steem on Twitter poll; OMG to the moon!!!111one" - well ETC won and now it is reaping the rewards.

No complains to me all of my investments are in profit.. I bought steem when it was 8000 satoshi and bitshare was around 700 satoshi.. the price is still good to me, but I'm expecting all coins to recover after this mass drop
Good for you. I just wonder if there will be a shake-up some time when people decide which coins really have a future. I hope Steem will be one of them
Steem has lots of potential. i just hope that people will realize and invest their time here on steemit and invest their money on steem.

If someone is short on Bitcoin - he will gain. But I think this dip is temporary and will recover after a while...
I think bitcoin is going to come down again and if this time it comes below $2000 then i am gonna lose a bit in my investment, i think it is time to sell my stock of BTC locally @steevc

Yup, i watched it all day. ETC is moving up as my trade group believes it is undervalued. They think ETH got too much of a pump last month and needs a small correction. Both are still a regarded as a long hold like BTC. The push downs from what I am learning are whales trying to scare off smaller investors so they can pick up at a lower prices. Very bubbly. Now time to sleep. see ya.
Even ETC has dropped now. Just wait for the next wave :)

People will only loose by selling or owning cryptocurrencies they shouldn't own in the first place. Panic only leads to loss.
How can you know which will fall? It can change so quickly, but in the long term many are rising. Just have to hold your nerve
It is just ups and downs. That is how markets work and the tiny crypto markets are no exception.

The dip is mainly because of people are panic selling and the dips become worse and worse. Eventually people will start buying in the dip and all currencies will start rising again.
The dips are just something that happens, don't panic and definitely don't sell, buying more is the only good thing to do here :)

Yeah it should be just a normal dip, but if everybody is panicking this dip can get really really low.

This is how things are in crypto. I've got some that I hold long-term, some that I sell, and some that I hold in case I need to sell.
All in all, people should try to be diversified enough and have enough money coming in that movements like this don't cause them to get screwed.
It's not always easy to say that, because most people struggle to acquire an income, but it's true: only income will help keep you from panic-selling.
There are hundreds of thousands of people right now just waiting to buy this dip, and when they do the price will shoot back up and people who panic-sold will have a sour feeling in their mouth.

I just find it all fascinating. I'm seeing the value of my steem shift by thousands, but I'm not that worried.
I remember when bitcoin reached 1k and then it dropped to 175. saw a video about a guy who didnt really care. he just kept mining. bet he is a millionar now
