I can already picture the comment threads filling up with angry posts about how "Bittrex stole my coins". Of course this is the internet and no matter how information people have on a matter there are still many trolls living under bridges ready to strike out at the first sign of a scandal.
The truth is if anybody at all is to get mad by this announcement, it will be that they followed the advice of some random YouTube promoter and put a large portion of their accounts into an unknown currency waiting for that 100x return that will never come.
Of course this will be just a small percentage of people that are affected this way and I can't help feel that there will be backlash for the sake of backlash.
The truth is that this is a much needed cleansing that many exchanges need to practice. The market is flooded with coins and tokens that just have no place in the market anymore (or in some cases never had a place).
Bittrex will be removing 26 coins that they say no longer have a working blockchain, which makes perfect sense. Whether it is due to lack of interest or just a rivals success we will always see the rise and fall of many blockchains in the years to come.
This leaves us with another 56 cryptocurrenies. Coins that may not be delivering the liquidity that Bittrex has once believed or maybe there is an element of protection from coins that may only ever go down in value. I hope that in the future Bittrex is able to step up its game in selecting new coins to protect investors from buying coins that are almost guaranteed to fail.
