ETH - smart contracts, new way of buisness model, decentralization
LTC - digital silver, second, well known, better technology lower fees, natural alternative to BTC.
DASH - will probably be one of the first mainstream adopted currencies.
XEM - best technology, they call it sleeping giant.
ANS - Chinese copy of ETH, with biggest population, good to have some.
ETC - known, ETH little brother, a lot of investing, known.
XRP - bankers coin, even you dont like it, keep some of them.
NAV - best privacy coin, simple, efficient.
ICN - Digital Assets Management Platform, great potential on mainstream adaption.
SIA - All today's clouds are expensive, risky and limited. SIA project will bring big changes.
ARDR - NXT tech. Easy and secure creating child chains.
IOTA - alternative to blockchain, secure, no fees, intenet of things eco system. Good to own some if this concept prevail over the blockchain in the future.
EOS - technology will be essential in the future to address the scaling issues.
STEEM - The future of social networks. Rewards for good content.

I would exclude from this list LTC, ETC and NAV.
Also, you may want to add some project that address real things (like Steem).
They will definitely make you a millionaire if you invest on early stages.
Yeah i know, some ppl saying that little brothers will always just walk behind big ones, however price of ETC and LTC still allow to invest something and time will tell if there is space for more currencies, IMO it is. NAV i hold just a small percentage, i am not much in a favour of totally anonymous crypt coins, they will most likely not be legal in any jurisdiction, but underground will still exist and NAV for this price I think can grow.

Well, IMO better to diversify more, investing just top3 or top5 you may miss big gains in some other projects
