First problem using cryptocurrency lost crypto - the solution.

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

Hi,

I thought i'd give an update on how my crypto's are currently doing and give you a rundown on how the most recent problem i had was resolved. This was partially my doing. I've been in these things now for coming up to 2 months and i currently hold

NEO, PAY, ETH, STRAT, XMR, OMG, STEEM, XRP and a few others.

I've managed to nearly tripple the value of my account over the last couple of months, and i tend to buy only on red days, is the rule i have for myself mostly, and i try to buy nothing outside the top 20 - top 25 if I can see a genuine business case for the cryptocurrency. Now i have quite a bit of experience in shares, etc so this results might not be repeatable for everybody, but in cryptoland, if you are to simply buy and hold for a period of a few months, you can do this if you are careful.

Now what happened the other week was I actually subscribed or attempted to subscribe to the Nebl.io ICO. Now I know what you are thinking, do not participate in ICO's from a managed wallet, but Id done probably over 100 crypto transactions of all different kinds at this point, and i was not receiving any tokens back to that address. They were being supplied to me on their own app directly.

Nebl.io.jpg

Since I use coinspot.com.au in Australia, which is a managed wallet, they advise to send from an ether wallet that you hold the keys to etc. Now since this ICO was going to be depositing the ICO tokens directly to a downloaded app which was to sit on the desktop, i thought well since i'm not going to receive any tokens back to my ETH address this should be fine.

So I began the sign up process and in part of it, I had to select Eth as a payment method, i think it worked out to 0.63 eth, which at the time was about $250.00 AUD.

So after signing up, and my 1000 odd ICO tokens were reserved with confirmation pops up a shapeshift window, with an ethereum address and a 10 minute countdown to send to. So i send my tokens like i normally would, and i sat and waited and waited.

It got to the last 2 minutes of the countdown and the window just auto-refreshed by itself with a new ETH address, which was obviously not the one I just sent my $250 to. I did not click anything, it just refreshed and gave me a new address.

The first thing I did was i logged back into coinspot, and there was a cancel link beside the transaction, which i have not yet to see on any of my coinspot transactions, so this was my first port of call. I did immediately click CANCEL. There was no change to coinspot, it just remained as pending.

I messaged coinspot, and they had said they passed it onto the tech team, and several days later I still had not heard from the tech team. So in the mean time, i contacted Nebl.io and they got back to me within a few hours.

So this, although had not resolved the problem, did begin to show me the process, and give me a first hand understanding of how the blockchain ledger was working, as it was able to be seen at every stage by everybody. So this did not resolve my problem but I could see light at the end of the tunnel. The $250 isnt a lot at this point as i was closing in on $6000 in my crypto account across all of them, but still its $250.00 that belonged to me. Im down a bit now, but I buy when my account drops slowly and steadily. I love the double digit red days, they are the best days to buy. I've still got a roughly $3000 margin of safety before i now eat into my original deposit which is just under $2000.

This is was shown to me from the Nebl.io guys. This was able to give me an idea and record of what happened. All cryptos have similar setups online which you can google.

So then i emailed shapshift and these were the responses over the next several days.

Then i provided my jaxx ethereum address for simplicity, as my managed wallet doesn't have a direct ethereum address to send to. It has addresses for most of the others, just not ethereum. So I thought maybe this is going to be a problem, because i did not originally send it from this address so I could literally be anybody.

I then just sent a screenshot of my jaxx ethereum address:

Now if you havnt heard about jaxx, i recommend you download it at jaxx.io It's a cryptocurrency exchange that sits on your phone, and you can send and receive all kinds of cryptocurrency to yourself, and exchange them for others right on your phone. It sometimes takes about 5 - 10 mins, but its really handy.

So after a few days I got more responses from Shapeshift:

Anyway, I received my 0.63 ETH back in my jaxx.io wallet this morning, and i jaxx'd it to Litecoin which I am able to send directly to my Litecoin address on my managed wallet at coinspot.com.au which has a receiving address.

So the point of this entire excercise was to educate the community about the integrity of the network, and maybe to help a few people if they do misplace some cryptos like this, that it can be resolved.

I wish you the best in life and investing.
