RE: Kraken exchange is down!

Websites go up and down, there is no need to panic right off the bat. Seems to work just fine for me though.

But answering the question about "reliable exchange", none will ever exist. We have seen exchanges just pack up and go, and we will see this in the future as well. Who and when, I cannot know, but it will be happening. This is why you should never keep any money in your exchange wallets, or at least always consider that money lost.

I agree with you that no exchange will ever be perfectly safe.
Nevertheless, it seems that every week we have some kind of issues with some exchanges, I understand cryptocurrencies are new and have less reliable exchanges but I couldn't imagine such numerous issues with Stockexchanges or Banking apps.
Again, I understand these 2 examples are settled technologies and companies.
Thank you for the comment.

BCH is rocketing now, and as you can see from other altcoins they're going massively down because people are selling theirs off in order to jump aboard BCH. This will put massive stress on any exchange.

Simply put there is not enough processing power available on these services, because during your average day it wouldn't make sense to have too much of it available and lose money on it. This means that once the need does spike like this, adding more is a bit too late already.
