Selling used games using blockchain technology

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

Robot Cache aims to offer gamers a platform to sell used games by offering 25% back in their own token IRON. IRON is an ERC20 token maintained on the Ethereum network and launches the second quarter of 2018.

IRON can be purchased and earned by reselling games but it also can be mined by gamers using the platform. Total supply for the token is claimed to be 300 Million units and up to 105 million will be sold in a token sale.

Getting IRON won't come cheap as the public presale minimum purchase is $50,000 and for institutions, it is a cool half million with a presale discount up to 25% and up to 40% for institutions.

As a gamer, I don't really see this taking off as there are a lot of things I think will come in the way. Although many gamers sell their games at huge loses at stores like Game Stop, most of these users are console users. I highly doubt Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo will get involved in this project. Console games also sell for far more than 25% and as much as 85% if you beat it fast and sell it shortly after release.

I also don't see the PC gaming giant Steam cooperating as they would build their own blockchain if they were going in that direction.

No information has been released about any devs that have signed up already. There are some attractive benefits for developers with only 5% publishing fees compared to 30% on most platforms with complete freedom of setting their own price (both sale and resale).

Public Presale is two weeks starting Feburary 15th.

Although they have some six partners promoted on their site, none of them are game developers or even a popular publisher.

Although it is a facinating idea, I'm going to sit on the sidelines and just watch how it plays out.

I heard about this the other day, definitely a very interesting concept. But I think it's a hit or miss, needs a lot of cooperation with game devs, publishers, and then on top of that you actually need people to use it. Will be keeping my eyes on it though!

To add to your opinion in the post, this idea is pretty useless if they can't get major game devs to work with them.

Followed and liked.
Check out my blog as well when you get a chance :)

Cheers!

It will grow slowly , mass adoption takes time . But when it catches few eyes here and there it would blow !

I don't see it happening...

Nobody saw btc at 20k !

Yeah I think we are way too early in this space for an idea like this to work out. No way are we going to see large scale adoption from big studios.

Hate to be a stickler but there’s a typo on your 2018.
Thanks for the heads up on this project but I’d have to agree, I don’t see it going too far

These are good news for crypto, especially IRON, but for me, well... I feel that I am too young for old games and too old for all games. But again, this is how I feel, nobody can stop me from playing games (unless there is a power outage, that can stop me from playing games) :))

Really great games very well chosen my friend

This is awesome dude , crypto and blockchain would be mass adopted . We also need crypto torrent which gives us incentive for seeding !

The prospective of #Blockchain technology is gigantic. It is in fact, the foremost transformative technology that’s emerging today. #BlockchainTechnology

It seems like the future of gaming is going to be digital and I agree with you that steam probably won't be into it. It's kinda hard to conceive of with the way gaming is now.

Yeap, the idea is very nice, but there are a looot of roadblocks ahead for these guys if they really believe their product.

And I'm saying this because there are lots of ICOs out there that are just for the initial token sale and that's it. Don't know the developers to know if this is the case or not.

Too risky, and that's why I'm out of most ICOs

This is really a great opportunity, thanks for passing on the info.

@themarkymark refund my 3 sbd i need them! I made a mistake but it can happen to anyone

I gave it back to other users, why not me?

Gaming industry has a huge market. However the minimum purchase sounds to be a hurdle. I agree we have passion in the industry but $50,000 is a big amount to bet on an ICO.

When it comes to used goods sales I am still expecting some move from e-bay.
FD.
