Blockchain technology has gone viral around the globe and now many companies are showing their interest in this technology. Recently no. 1 news app of India NewsDog has announced the beta launch of blockchain technology on its app for android users.It has partnered with a Singapore-based blockchain company, CNN which enables users to earn cryptocurrency called CNN token by engaging with different content on the app — upvotes, sharing, commenting, etc.
NewsDog has acquired more than 40 million users within 2 years, and it’s still growing really fast. NewsDog was founded in 2016 by Chinese entrepreneurs Forest Chen Yukun and Yi Ma and is owned by Hong Kong-based Hacker Interstellar. This app offers news in 10 Indian languages under various categories. NewsDog, the NO.1 content platform in India, will be the first application on CNN.
NewsDog has more than 40 million users, 15,000 WeMedia partners and thousands of media partners. NewsDog recently raised $50 Mn (INR 341 Cr) Series C funding in a round led by Tencent, and plans to utilise the funds to add more regional languages to increase its user base, among others. Newsdog recently launched Wemedia platform which allow user to submit content.
CNN stands for Content Neutrality Network. It is a blockchain-based content ecosystem proposed by D-Run Foundation, a Singapore-based foundation whose principle is that all content is created equal. CNN establishes a series of new mechanisms based on Ethereum smart contracts to solve the problems.
