As the days go by, the crypto space welcomes new developments either in terms of price increases, newbies getting on board or big organizations trying to make the best out of cryptocurrencies. Facebook accepting cryptos could be the next big thing for the entire crypto space.
“There are important counter-trends to this –like encryption and cryptocurrency — that take power from centralized systems and put it back into people’s hands. But they come with the risk of being harder to control. I’m interested to go deeper and study the positive and negative aspects of these technologies, and how best to use them in our services”. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO.
In an extensive post recently put out by Mark Zuckerberg, he talked a lot about Decentralization and how it helps in putting power back in the hands of the people. He also outlined that Facebook’s aim has always been to be decentralized and showed concern on how people have lost faith in that promise as governments and big organizations use technology to watch on citizens.
“For example, one of the most interesting questions in technology right now is about centralization vs decentralization. A lot of us got into technology because we believe it can be a decentralizing force that puts more power in people’s hands. (The first four words of Facebook’s mission have always been “give people the power”.) Back in the 1990s and 2000s, most people believed technology would be a decentralizing force”.
Mark Zuckerberg’s willingness to learn about cryptocurrencies and possibly implementing them in their services is a very good news for the entire community as one of the things strongly needed at this moment is bigger organizations coming on board and accepting cryptocurrencies.
If Facebook implements cryptocurrencies in their services, this will also a drastic rise in the number of cryptocurrency users as Facebook over 2 billion active users. This will, therefore, lead to the massive adoption of cryptocurrencies.
