RE: It's 2018 and the CryptoWars Have Begun

Cheers, this is well written.

I didn't realise that the card issuers were cancelling them. It's not surprising, but it's certainly a change of direction.

Do you know whether Monaco (MCO) is affected?

Sort:

Hi @tonyot, I'm not sure if MCO is affected or not. All I'm aware of is that Wavecrest, which acted as the issuer for all or nearly all bitcoin visa cards for non-U.S. residents has been told by Visa to cancel all accounts.

Thanks, @lesliestarrohara.

Yeah, it looks like they've all been affected,

""All the cards were shut down in one second," Lazarichev said, adding that WaveCrest hasn't been responsive. "We asked for more information, but they haven't provided any."

TenX, another cryptocurrency card company affected, tried to reassure users."

TenX seem to think they're going to be able to find a workaround, but they're down 21% anyway.

...Basically, TenX are optimistic that they can obtain a banking license in Q2 2018.

That seems ambitious. Not sure I'd have much faith in that happening.
