For the first time, Steemit just hit top 1000 sites in global rank and we are now a part of the largest sites worldwide. Steemit is growing very fast, there is no other word to define what is happening right now !
Once Smart Media Tokens (SMTs) launch, I'm sure it's only going to get even bigger.
With our continued support, we want now to break into the top 500 by the end of the year.
Growth does not seem to show signs of slowing down. Week after week we clearly see exponential growth with an average of 25-45K new accounts created. It will be interesting to see where the next few months take us!

If growth is such an important matter, then surely, we should be constantly monitoring it. After all, what gets measured, gets managed.

I just followed you and took a look at https://steemd.com/@tradewonk where I see you have one of the top 5% of witness votes. You currently have no votes for witness which is the case with 80% of users on Steemit. Witness votes are the most important we make because we are choosing who makes the decisions on the version of Steem we run and which accounts create new blocks. The easiest way to fully participate is to set a proxy to handle all witness votes because the proxy then does the work of choosing which witnesses to vote for out of the 30 votes.

Here in Japan Steemit is still in its earliest stage. There are even some guys who are planning a similar platform only for Japanese
Probably it is less intimidating since they wonβt need English and can be closer community.
Wondering if this will succeed too but I rather hope the Steemit gospel will spread around here more. Here in our city Niigata we formed a small Steemit community where we are also using a group account. @steemcityniigata

Yeah, most non English speaking countries end up doing something like this. It pays off big if it works out. I used to have a Mixi in like 2006 to communicate with my Japanese friends, but stopped using it haha. A lot of them use Facebook now anyway.

Those Alexa rankings are next level good. As a digital marketer in a past life, I know that businesses would KILL for this exposure.
They spend all their time on Twitter, Facebook etc, getting nowhere, when they could simply use the Steemit domain to blog longer form, branded content WITH INSTANT SEO RANKING VALUE.
Steemit and as a result, STEEM, is so undervalued that it's just ridiculous.
I don't think it's undervalued, it's just still very new and still in beta compare to other social media sites, but the growth have been massive so far.
That's true. Did you see Ned's latest video where essentially he says that they have been slacking in the visual and marketing area of Steemit's development? Just the beginning and it's STILL producing numbers like this on Alexa. I'm optimistic. :)

This is indeed very promising, and until there's no real competition in this market I don't see the numbers dropping anytime soon. It'll be interesting to see how the platform will keep up with the traffic :).

The problem is; high traffic, but no retention. I see post about how "great" steemit is everyday on the front page. Yet it's only the same 5 users post on the front page talking about it... like 10 of the same users on trending everyday...
Yea in the beginning it's really about finding the accounts with value. The first days on Steemit I read the beginners articles and I saw some of the most ridiculous tips ever: "Just follow the top 150 accounts, upvote every article and gain the most curation awards possible" I'm sorry, but that's not what Steemit or any other blogging platform is about. I took my time to go over the boards that interested me (psychology, motivation, philosophy etc) and when I found a good, well-written article I was research the author. If the author had more interesting posts, I pushed the follow button. After a few days I had a decent feed with articles that interested me, I could learn from and could open a discussion about in the comments section. That made my experience on Steemit a lot better than purely following random accounts.
You can follow whoever you want you think creating nice content and suddently your feed will only show things you want to read.

Yeah, I am from eastern Europe and everyone I tell about Steemit & it's concept - that you get payed for creating content - they just don't really get it.
Most common responses are - It's a pyramid scheme or it will not survive for long.
But it's really good to see every-week some positive news, like entering top 1000 website, or some big Youtubers joining in.
In my country, Venezuela, this great platform called Steemit is our best tool to get out of the crisis. It has changed many lives. In many aspects, one of them is to offer us: food, health, studies, among other things, and seeing these statistics well explained, I confirm that we are in the best platform of the 21st century and that the best is yet to come. . thanks for sharing. @tradewonk

That is not good! Why? Beacuse it is still in beta?!? When are we going to fix stuff and lunch real deal. We still dont have algorithms. Same posts everywhere, only whale can make you successful, there is no transparently. I have only 70 following and on my home page is a mess. All bad stuff and then some good. C mon we need some improvments. More people will be here more mess will be if we wont start asap.

First of congrats steem, im from Bangladesh it's small country but huge populations around 160 people are living here, last year govt servey there 50milions of people using internet, if steem can make here invest then lots of people are ready to using such incoming sites like steem, at last my wish is steem gonna number "One"

Its growing worldwide...but in the US it has gone from 500 to almost 800 again...the price being down has hurt its traffic here I'm assuming.

I feel like as long as steemit is marketed as a social media site that gives the value back to the users, then mainstream adoption will continue to happen.
As more people realize that other sites that they tried to build a community on are stagnating and placed in a stranglehold due to the very thing that monetized them, they will visit and bring their loyal followers as well. This leaves me to believe that we could see steem in the double digits in the not too distant future.
