Satoshi: And let there be the blockchain.
In January 2009 the Bitcoin network went live. From there on, with ups and downs, BTC dominated and shaped the crypto world: technology, regulations, trading, scandals, minning hardware, forks, you name it.
A multi billion dollar industry was created from nothing. It changed the way we view payments and challenged the traditional fiat ccy domination.
2017: And on the 8th year Bitcoin ended his work
8 years later, in 2017, the most impressive year in crypto history started. This was the year that BTC actually went mainstream.
Bitcoin's valued exploded from 1000$ to over 20000$ in just 12 months. It carried the crypto market to new heights.
But, at the same time, this was the end of its domination. Quite ironically:
The big success of the first crypto coin inspired a big number of altcoins to be created. Some of which have taken the blockchain technology a step forward or even redefined it all together.
Impressive gains from this altcoins collaborated with the scandals and forks of BTC (only BCH is now worth over 40$ B) have reduced BTC's domination.
I believe this year BTC handed over the ropes to the world. Loosing over 40% of the market whilst gaining over 1500% in price can only happen in the crypto world but that is why we actually love it, it's descentralized, it's crazy, it's ours !
