Are You Using a Password Manager? Help Keep Your Steem And Other Crypto Secure With KeyPass!

Hello Steemians!

Thought I would make a quick post on a couple simple steps you can take to better secure your various crypto passwords/keys. I'm sure this is old hat to many of you, but if not, take a minute and give it some consideration.

First off, I would recommend using KeePass as your password manager. Even if you disregard the security benefits, it is much more efficient than 50 separate notepad files. Trust me, I've been there :)

I personally dislike using cloud providers to store passwords/keys, so a local storage system like KeePass is perfect for me. You can of course upload your KeePass database to a provider or use one of the many available plugs to sync.

Aside from storing all your passwords/keys in an encrypted database, KeepPass uses "Two-Channel Auto-Type Obfuscation" when auto-typing which does provide protection against some keyloggers.

Speaking of keyloggers, I also use Ghostpress when entering my KeePass password which should provide a measure of protection. I'm looking into the KeeChallenge plugin to use a Yubikey to secure my KeePass database.

There is always an arms race with the bad guys and apparently the latest malware tends to target the browser itself and steal passwords directly, in which case avoiding the clipboard and obfuscation won't be of much use. However, I would like to try to make things a little more difficult for them, especially if it hardly takes any effort on my part. Hardware wallets and tokens are probably where I'm headed though.

Hopefully some of the above information was useful. If nothing else, please give some thought to keeping your hard earned Steem and other crypto safe. Links below, have a good one :)
