I always use 2FA en triple check the links & addresses I send coins to. However today was different....

Let's begin the story at which point it all went downhill.

This morning I came home from work around 06.10am (night shift). I went to bed at around 06.30am and I normally get out of bed around 12am after my 2nd night shift.

I woke up at around 11.30am and after some coffee I noticed I had an email from Slack. It said there were some issues with the smart contract. Ok....possible. It happened before with the Monaco tokens and they had to re-issue the tokens.

As I still was waking up I clicked on the provided link. It brought me to the MEW website (..or I thought it was....).

Notice the address...I didn't pay attention because it looked like the original site. (No direct link; I don't want anyone to loose coins to scammers).

It looked like the original site so I continued to login. Hmmm...strange. No message concerning the SNT tokens. I quickly closed the site and opened the link from my bookmarks. First I noticed no strange things...I clicked on the Etherscan transaction history link. I suddenly saw a pending transaction. F*^k...How could I've been so stupid?

I tried to set up a new MEW account...however it was too late...all of my tokens were gone and the transactions were confirmed in the Blockchain....

Within minutes my tokens were gone. It were approx. 303 SONM, 900 STATUS and 13.5 MONACO tokens.

I logged in to MEW and saw all of my balances were 0. There was only a small amount of ether left that hasn't been touched.

They were all sent to the following address;
https://etherscan.io/address/0x8e6be4cc78557cf3087b15963bf7139b0154e0e0#tokentxns

Apparently I was not the only one that was scammed....

Luckily I didn't stash all my coins on the same account. I lost about 70$ worth of coins and will buy them back this evening. However I always thought it wouldn't happen to me....It just did.

Although it was a small amount, I never felt so stupid. It's not about the money, it's about stupidity. I partly believe the scammer deserved my coins because of my utter stupidity.

Most of you do know how to protect their accounts...so do I. However I still got scammed because I didn't pay attention for 1 second.Schermafbeelding 2017-07-09 om 21.38.33.png

Thanks for reading & don't make the same mistake I did!

Fool you once, shame on them. Don't blame yourself for another person seeking fraudulent income.

Thanks...won't make the same mistake again. Luckily I didn't put my ether on MEW.

Yep I normally do to. Now I'm the stupid one 😅

Don't knock yourself...
We all been there...😂😂😂

Hopefully once..and no more.

Take this upvote to consolidate the loss a tiny bit.

Thanks...every little bit helps!

Sorry to hear that!

Could have been worse. I will survive 😅. Hopefully some will learn from my mistake..

I've almost messed up before when trying to post very low on sleep. Just a recipe for disaster!

Definitely is..my colleague sent 50 LTC to a wrong address a month ago. That was painful!

I got a similar mail. Sometimes it is hard to resist following up; it seems trust is truly our default modus.
