We all started our Blockchain journey somewhere : for some it was their first Bitcoin purchase, for others it was participating in an ICO on Ethereum.
After crypto-currencies reached their all time high market-cap, they started dropping, and fast at that. 90% of ICO’s appeared to be scams, a quick way to grab cash and disappear. However, among those ICO’s, there were also projects offering digital assets like Etheremon, where you could buy GEN-0 monsters to allow for developers to work on the project. At the time, some naysayers called it “Ponzimons”, because every time someone else bought the same Etheremon you did, you got a percent on that sale.
The system quickly ended, it was a matter of a day or two. But I remember the main dev, Nakasatoshi, was very active on reddit and answered to all question. I immediately understood he was a good guy with a great vision, so I followed.
The very first Etheremon I caught was this Swifty, but I acquired other mons that were caught even earlier.
After a brief period of stagnation, the devs introduced a battle mode, where you could build a castle with your mons and let them defend it until they lost too many times and the structure got destroyed.
Very soon followed many updates as the people behind the game went all in and worked very hard full time to deliver us update after update : practice mode, ranked mode, gym mode and even the adventure mode.
The adventure mode I spoke about earlier allows you to send your monsters to chase after loot like shards to power up your monsters, level up stones or even Legendary Etheremon!
Level up stones and legendary monsters like Zedakasm appear sometimes during adventures
Another very important feature that adventure mode brought along was the introduction of sites : you could become a site host by purchasing a site on a public auction. Every time another player sends their Etheremon on adventure, you get part of what EMONT or Ether they use to send their mons.
The sites I have at the moment
I really enjoyed seeing the growth of the game, its economy and the new fantastic people I met, the deals I made, the trades I concluded. The experience is great!
