It doesn’t serve any socially useful function, he said. For me this discussion was already solved when Adam Smith explained the most remarkable features of a currency: the value-in-use and value-in-exchange.
The value in-use is still in an early estage, since there are way too many digital currencies and few retailers agree upon which one to broadly accept.
But the value in-exchange! Holy me! There is this miriad of startups and ICOs who only share participation through this digital markets.
If you want to have a share on some of the most briliant innovations of the upcoming years, you'll need to switch to the alt-coins.
