First, in addition to the game is fairly unique, Mappalanca also held in certain places. The place to accommodate Mappalanca is in a sacred tomb. This tomb is far from the settlement and surrounded by shady trees. According to local beliefs, the shrine is the ancestral village tomb which is also the uncle of King Gowa Sultan Alaudin.

Third, play the team. The Mappalanca match was followed by two teams, each consisting of two men. Two people become kicker, while the other two prepare the strongest horse so as not to collapse when his foot receives the opponent's foot load. No wonder when many who complained of sprain when finished following this tradition. However, participants did not feel deterrent.

Basically, this tradition becomes part of a series of annual parties to celebrate the harvest. In this tradition there is also a rice beating ceremony (akdengka ase lolo) and sepak takraw (paraga).
Fifth, in this match there is no winner. The point is to maintain the noble values. Foot battle is one of the diverse cultures typical of Indonesia. In addition to its uniqueness, the foot combat tradition continues to be implemented year after year after harvest and on 17 August.
