Sirupate khukuri is a Nepalese knife with an inwardly curved blade, similar to a machete, used as both a tool and as a weapon in Nepal. This particular knife’s name is come from the name of grass, ‘siru’. The shape of this khukuri blade is very much alike to the leaf of the Siru. Hence it is called Sirupate khukuri. It has straight blade and not as wide as other knives. This kind of blade very useful to light work,now day british gurkhas also use similar this kind of light blade for jungle training. The sheath is
made of water buffalo and Rosewood is used to make handle.
Daura-Suruwal is the traditional outfit of Nepalese Male and the equivalent female national costume is the Gunyou Cholo. Daura which is if upper body wear has eight strings, their names are ‘Astamatrika-Singini, Byagini, Kumari, Barahi, Brahmayani, Indrayani, Maheshowri, Byasnabi, and Mahalaxmi’, that serves to tie itself up around the body and eight is a lucky number according to our religious belief. Also, the Daura has five pleats or Kallis, signifying Pancha Buddha or Pancha Ratna. And the closed neck of the Daura signifies the snake around the Lord Shiva’s neck.
Dhaka topi is the type of hat worn by Nepalese people. this topi is worn as the symbol of national pride in Nepal. Dhaka topi has become popular during the reign of king Mahendra of Nepal, who ruled between 1995 to 1972. Dhaka topi is made from Dhaka fabric, the name makes reference to the city of Dhaka, Bangladesh where the fabric was originated. Wearing this topi is considered a matter of national pride, as it is a recognized symbol of Nepalese culture.
