RE: Brother Maitreya in Dae Jo Sa temple in Boo Yeo (Korea)

Your post today emphasizes the transience of earthly glory, @slowwalker, as symbolized by the seasonal blooming of the wildflowers and the brief but gaudy flare of the changing leaves.

Everything in this post depicts impermanence from the fading names on the stones to the re-painting of the Buddha's eye.

Particularly poignant were the ruins of the stone tower that had to be re-built from stones scattered about the grounds.

We are forever trying to catch hold of the past, but it seems we are ghosts that cannot quite grasp things.

We rebuild the ruins trying vainly to connect with ancient truths but as the Greek philosopher Heraclitus wrote, you can't step into the same river twice.

Perhaps our attempts to revisit the past only serve to remind us how ephemeral life is and how precious the enjoyment of one glorious autumn day.

A meditative and profoundly reflective post, my friend.
