RE: Back in the USA - Observations of General Cultural Differences after 4 Days.

in #culture7 years ago

I have always found that japanese in public are always very modest. They may or may not take any interest to something or someone but in public they do their best to seem to give you the attention you sort. Its how must are and I think it originated in its culture. Parents and teachers teach their kids to respect and treat others with respect so generally they are obedient.

This is not to say they all are like that. They have a lot of messed up stuff too. Like women getting groped by men so the country developed a public subway car only for women to ride. What on earth are some Japanese men thinking?

USA has always been competitive. Ever since we were in school we have been taught winners are praised and remembered. Most schools have scores and some even ranks. Parents and teachers teach their kids to work hard and find what you are passionate about and pursue it. Live life with meaning because every second is precious. Yet when kids fail the reality sets in and thinks they dreamed and worked for does not come true and become cynical of life.

Note Japanese is no different in the way they see life. Just because they are obedient does not mean they are always kind. Wives leave men when the men loses their jobs. People say is Darwin but I say people have lost common sense. In life we will all face hurdles. No one person will have a perfect track record in life so understand that people will fail and think of it as a learning experience and move on.

US is on the mist of a shift in core beliefs. The long standing US as the most prosperous country on earth is sadly fading amount some Americans. I hope the struggles that Americans all are facing will unite all us all instead of dividing. Sorry got off a tangent. lol.

This post is about general differences in culture. Anytime we use the word “they” like this we are getting close to trouble. Nobody made the claim that any collective label group of people are always kind.

Apologies for use of wrong words. I have to be very careful what to say even on steemit. Thanks for the reminder.

No apologies necessary. I agree with much of what you are saying, just was clarifying what was meant by my post. I didn’t mean that all people from certain cultural backgrounds are always kind. That’s all I wanted to clarify.
