These type of lending libraries are common. Take a book, leave a book. I have seen one at a park in San Antonio, Texas with children's books. These are just so cool because they're using an old phone booth!!
Yes it really is a great idea and it promotes reading, another lost art!
I don't think that they are worried about stealing. You are free to take any book that you want and you can leave your old books there.
