There were lots of local foods which it was not common out side of Chejoo island.
Local food in CheJoo island was deeply related with sea food.
There have been women who catch sea products. It was unknown it’s origin, but sea women were not only traditional business but also cultural resources of CheJoo island.
Now the age of sea women is more than 70 years old average.
Sea women have fought in sea to sustain their family.
They dived into sea to catch the sea products, sea vegetable, octopus, sea urchin, sea cucumber, etc.
I took some photos of sea women.
I heard about the restaurant where sea women operated by themselves with sea products they caught in sea.
It was small and humble restaurant by beautiful and fanatic beach.
I saw a sea woman prepare for fish
After retirement, I’d like to stay here for a while.
We ordered sea food water sashimi with sea urchin egg, sea cucumber and trumpet shell and sea urchin egg noodle.
There were no raw fish in that sashimi, but others were raw products.
Of course we never have tasted this menu before. Especially sea urchin egg is hard to take a taste outside of the beach and island. Because the freshness is the most important for sea urchin egg.
I put the rice into the sea food water sashimi. It tasted great. My son also satisfied with it.

Side dishes were also sea vegetables. It’s smell brought me sea flavor full in my mouth.
I strongly recommend you fellow steemins to drop by this restaurant when you visit CheJoo, Korea.

As always, we cleaned it up completely.
But we didn’t finish other menu, so we decided to drop by once more next morning.

wow its look so yummy and tasty and yes its most important thing is freshness because it make food more tasty and yummy. i ate some fresh fish and crab too while i was in sri lanka and it taste is different while eat fresh and after some day..
food with a delicious sea menu, let alone that is still fresh like sea urchin eggs, amazing tasty, I have never tried it ..very good post @slowwalker

These women of CheJoo Island remind me of a group of other women in Japan who also obtain sea food. But I think the women in Japan are a bit younger.

I wonder whether female divers catching sea products for a living are in other countries like Japan, China, and etc. I totally agree with you that they are a unique cultural resouce.
This must have been such a thrilling experince, i am also wondering what an urchin' egg would taste like. Does it taste anything close tobcrab eggs?
