Origin
Cianjur is a district that is administratively included in the area of West Java. There, precisely in the area of Cikalong there is a martial art called "Pencak Silat Cikalong". Pencak Silat's name is very closely related to one of its citizens named Raden Jayaperbata which became known as Haji Ibrahim. He was the man who first introduced the martial arts. Because he originated or resided in Cikalong, then pencak silat which he created called "Pencak Silat Cikalong".
It is said that at that time (time) Pencak Silat is one of the traditional games that are favored by the authorities of Cianjur. In fact, it is incumbent upon them to study it, including Raden Haji Ibrahim. When it is a lot of learning is martial arts Cimande because Abah Kahir (teacher Pencak Silat Cimande) can defeat the hero of Macao in Dalem Noh's time. Raden Haji Ibrahim himself is a figure of people who are not satisfied with what they have. Despite having studied Cimande's silat, he always wanted to increase his silat knowledge. That said, he has been studying at 17 martial arts college. However, not satisfied also until one day he went to Betawi (Jakarta) and studied silat there. In Betawi, he not only studied in a teacher but there were three people, namely: Bang Mahkrup, Bang Kari, and Bang Madi. It makes martial arts higher. In fact, it can be said to be perfect. Nevertheless, there is one thing that always interfere with his mind, that is from the various martial arts he learns are all attacking and killing opponents. And, this does not fit the humanity fairy. Moreover, considering his position as a cleric. For that, with the stock of knowledge that he mastered, he tried to engineer to create martial arts that are for martial arts and hospitality. The result is pencak silat as mentioned above, namely Pencak Silat Cikalong.
Pencak Silat Cikalong
To be able to do the martial arts Cikalong well, then there are three things to note, namely: (1) position, time, tools, range, movement, and targets must be true and correct; (2) trying to be close to the opponent; and (3) movements to avoid. For more details, here is a description of the three things to note. First, the position, time, tool, range, movement, and target must be true and correct. Because, if not correct and correct results are not maximal (not as desired). Secondly, the base of Pencak Silat Cikalong is a flavor game by utilizing or channeling the opponent's energy. To be able to do well, then Cikalong fighters must try as close as possible (stick) to the opponent. Because of its nature, so in Pencak Silat Cikalong known some terms, such as ameng tampelan, tatapelan or usik-pertro. The type of taste power depends on power and usability. So, it can be from the base of arms, soles of the feet, fingers, and other limbs. Beatings, for example, in other traditional martial arts (other than Cikalong silat) are usually charged at the beginning of the beating, so that if missed (the target) the beater will be carried away by its own strength. However, in Cikalong silat does not start at the beginning of the beating, but when it comes to the target. If the blow is stifled by the opponent, then the power is quickly pulled back and emptied (as before). Thirdly, any pressure felt by Cikalong's fighters should be neutralized (usually reflexively because they have mastered the taste). For the record, in Pencak Silat Cikalong there is no ibing penca (silat game which is only a introduction). However, it is direct because the nature of pencak silat is concise and nimble. Therefore, it is not aligned with the pencak drum. So, if the pesilat must perform ibing, then the ibing is done ngibing Cimande pencak. In relation to that, the Culture Section Team, the Education and Culture Office of Cianjur Regency (2002) said that the present Cikalong ibing is actually just not part of the original Cikalong pencak silat. And, this condition is often lead to misunderstandings.
