Culture Vulture

The tag #culturevulture will be a place where, here on Steemit, you can share something unique about your country with the world. Instead of being a post about travel or tourism this tag will be about sharing local experiences.

July

There were 28 entries in July from 9 countries around the world; Japan, Armenia, Taiwan, Indonesia, Nigeria, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Philippines.

These post are not just travel posts but posts that share a special part of the culture. These are the experiences that I travel for and #culturevulture now brings them here to steemit.

1st Place 30 SBD

It was really difficult to pick the winner this month, there were so many outstanding entries. All different but the winner for July is a very special post. In this post @asyiesteem shares with us the naming of his daughter in a ceremony that traditionally takes place 7 days after the birth in Aceh.

Shaving and Naming Ceremonies

Congratulations @asyiesteem on winning the competition, 30 SBD is on the way, but also a big congratulations on the birth of your daughter.

The other posts in this challenge generally covered several categories; Festivals, Ceremonies, Food, Traditions and Sites

Unfortunately there could only be one winner but several posts deserve notable mentions and will each get 5 SBD

Festivals

Every country or region you travel to have different festivals, and national or local celebrations. They may commemorate a significant even in the history of a people or may be a cultural ritual.

Food

Food is close to my heart and the types of food we eat, when we eat it, who we eat it with clearly distinguish different peoples. What is that food you long for from home when you travel?
