These are pictures of an ancient mosque in southern Aceh, on the island of Sumatra. Built around the 18th century with wooden building materials obtained from the forest in the area.
This building style is a manifestation of the process of acculturation and assimilation between indigenous cultures and cosmopolitan values that have been brought by Muslims from various parts of Asia. Elements of Islamic architecture from China, in fact, also appear to be present in this historic ancient building.
However it all, then, may be cited as the typical architecture of the island, especially the west coast of the island of Sumatra.
Let's enjoy the diversity of the inheritance of mankind.
wow nice architecture! I'll travel to visit this amazing place
Nice..
Thank you.
Semoga peninggalan kuno di Aceh masih terjaga dengan baik.
I will always wait from your post, about the story of Aceh in the past. I learned a lot.
Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼
Haha... Thank you, @matajingga, I should try harder so you do not have to wait ... haha... but unfortunately, here you will not find much of what you are waiting for, from me. Here, there will be more expressions of the other kind... hahaha
Hahaa...Surely an expression of another interesting kinds :D
How interesting @keuudeip! The upward corners at the edge of the eaves do resemble/mimic roof structures in Chinese pagodas. Do these sculptures represent a dragon? I tried to zoom into your photos to see but I am not quite sure.
