The Idoma people are not only humble in nature, they're also hospitable. They are known as the second largest ethnic group in Benue state.
Idoma marriage
Although the marriage rites and customs are similar to that of the ibos and some other south-eastern cultures,there are specific aspects that distinguish their traditions with clarity.
After the payment of the bride price, the groom and his family will present the bride with a rooster and some money on the marriage day. If the bride accepts,it is a sign of approval. However, if she rejects the gift, it is a sign of disinterest.
Art
The Idoma people are also know for their artworks.
Belief
A good number of them still believe in the Alekron which is seen as the ancesteral spirits-a link between the living and the dead.
As a matter of fact,an annual Aje Alekron festival is being hosted.
Food
Among the various cuisines, the most popular is the okoho soup made with okoho plant,bush meat and other ingredients.
